Judith Ford, M.A.

PRESIDENT / TARGET TRAINER

Judith Ford has been a practicing Marriage and Family Therapist for over 25 years, working primarily with families with a history of intergenerational abuse and neglect and community violence.  As an agency clinical director she developed and implemented clinical and case management programs and parenting curricula for women involved in the child welfare system and has trained and supervised clinical and home visiting staff in engaging and retaining those families in services.

She has developed and administered a wide range of community based interagency programs and has provided training and consultation to local, regional and statewide programs designed to achieve multidisciplinary systems of care for women with young children, such as the Vermont Children’s Upstream Services Initiative.  Over the course of her career she has worked in educational, social service, mental health, substance abuse, and child welfare systems, all with a focus on women, children, and families.

At the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services she served as the Director of Women’s Services and was the lead in developing statewide trauma services.  As an Instructor at the University of Connecticut Health Center, Department of Psychiatry, Ms. Ford adapted TARGET research protocols and study findings into treatment manuals and educational/training curricula. She has taught and conducted trainings on a variety of topics related to child development, family violence, and the long-term effects of psychological trauma on children and adults and has provided over 700 hours of TARGET training and consultation to professionals in the fields of behavioral health and juvenile justice.
